London Performance Studios is a queer container for the research, generation, and promotion of artistic voices that meet in the space between the white cube of the gallery and the black box of the theatre. LPS seeks to queer artistic process, operating within radically transparent and intersectional structures. We champion the politics of making a scene, whether on stage or out in the world.

Directors

Founder & Artistic Director – Than Hussein Clark is a visual artist and theatre director based in London and Glasgow. He is the artistic director of The Director’s Theatre Writer’s Theatre, founder of London Performance Studios, and editor at large for Montez Press. He sits on the advisory board of Montez Press Radio and was a founding member of Villa Design Group. After studying acting in Los Angeles and art history in Edinburgh, he completed a BA in art at Goldsmiths in London, an MFA at the HFBK in Hamburg, and an MA in theatre directing with Katie Mitchell (OBE) at Royal Holloway. Recent projects include British Art Show 9, The October Salon at the Belgrade Biennale, A Little Night Music (And Reversals) at CRAC Occitanie in Sète, Meet Me At St. Louis, Lewis! at Centre Pompidou Paris and Stage for a Theatre on Mars at PLATO Ostrava.

Director – Anna M Clark is an entrepreneur, businesswoman and philanthropist working in food and the Arts. Coming from a varied academic background of; Printmaking and ceramics (with a Minor in History) at The University of Montana, Anna then moved to Portland, Oregon where she studied Culinary Arts at Oregon Culinary Institute, then onto Food Studies with an emphasis on food, performance and art at NYU and Creative Writing at California Institute of the Arts. For ten years, Anna was a Partner at Pixie Retreat. Currently, she is the Co-founder and Director of Montez Press, as well as being the Co-Founder and board member of Montez Press Radio.

Technical Manager & Director – Benjamin Slinger is a visual artist, set designer and arts consultant. Working across the visual and performing arts, they have designed and produced plays, exhibitions and installations in major institutions across Europe and North America including Pompidou Centre, MIT List Visual Arts Centre, Schwankhalle Bremen, CRAC Occitanie, Frieze London, Frieze New York.
