Casino Workshop

In Casino three dancers meet through salsa dancing in silence as a series of complex situations unfold. In this open level daytime worksop, participants will try out some of the choreographic practices behind the work, exploring how to relate to one another through movement.

Casino does not deal with representations of salsa, however, salsa is still a foundation of the piece. Participants in this workshop will learn some of the salsa basics, using this as a vocabulary to then move through and explore other choreographic practices.

This workshop is open to all levels and abilities.

About

Ofelia Jarl Ortega (she/her) is a Chilean-Swedish choreographer and performer based in Stockholm. Her work centers around vulnerability and femininity, often with a suggestive erotic aesthetic; where questions around power and group dynamics are at the core for her investigations. She holds a diploma from The Royal Swedish Ballet School (2010) and a MA in Choreography from Stockholms Konstnärliga Högskola (2014). Her works have been shown at venues such as ImPulsTanz (Vienna), MDT (Stockholm), Inkonst (Malmö), Arsenic (Lausanne), and Moving in November (Helsinki).
