Physical practise and Voice Acting Workshops

fish in a dress is a London and Berlin based theatre collective founded in 2024 by Christina Deinsberger, Charlotte McBurney, and Helena McBurney. fish in a dress devise new work from a queer-feminist perspective and are committed to developing theatre across national borders with a climate conscious practice. After a critically acclaimed Edinburgh Fringe run, their first show ’The City for Incurable Women’ will return to Camden Peoples Theatre in October 2025.

The workshop is part of Horizontal Practices LPS Development programme.

Movement Makes Story: Devising from a physical practise

Sometimes it only needs simple gestures or patterns to tell a story. In this workshop, Christina Deinsberger will lead physical exercises to explore a devising practise, connecting the individual body to the collective to create an image, explore a dynamic, or tell a little story. For actors, directors and theatre non-professionals - all experience levels are welcome. Wear clothes you are comfortable to move in.

Achievement Unlocked: Voice Acting in Video Games

In this workshop, BAFTA-nominated actor Charlotte McBurney will open up the world of voice acting for video games. Whether you are a gamer yourself or have never explored the art form, this workshop will take you through audition technique, vocal care, and help you to explore some of the different characters and archetypes. They will shine a light on working in a studio and help you connect to this exciting and quickly developing art form. By the end of the day you will have made an own recording you can add to your reel.

About

Christina Deinsberger is a Berlin based director. Previous work including Undine Geht @ Schaubühne Berlin, Mnemonic @ National Theatre London as well as extensive international touring experience. Christina’s artistic strength lies in psychologically detailed, physically challenging, formally experimental work. She has a special interest in working with complex sound design and a distinctive aesthetic language.

Charlotte McBurney is a London based actor, known for their work in video games with leading roles in the Plague Tale franchise and Final Fantasy XVI. Charlotte is interested in shaping narratives through a collaborative process. Combining sharp naturalistic character work with elements of surrealism and camp, they care about connecting with their audience. For their performance in The City for Incurable Women Charlotte was awarded Best Solo Performance by Theatre Weekly and nominated for the Filipa Bragança Award.
