Mike Alfreds

Book Club

A one-day workshop and the first meeting of a book club exploring storytelling and adapting literature for the stage, inspired by the work of renowned theatre director Mike Alfreds. This session is designed for anyone interested in the intricate process of adapting a book for theatre.

Participants will dive into Alfreds' book Then What Happens?, engaging in peer-led discussions and practical exercises based on assigned chapters. Each participant will present their chapters to the group, followed by exercises that apply Alfreds' methods to a chosen story. This workshop offers an immersive experience in narrative adaptation, with the potential for future sessions tailored around the group's availability.

The initial meeting will be on Saturday 12 October (10.30 AM - 5.30 PM), and the cost is £25 (including lunch). Future sessions and master classes with Mike Alfreds will be organised and priced according to the group's needs.

This workshop is organised by Living Pictures, as part of the Associate Artists Programme.
