The Nigerian Anthology

An online workshop led by associate artist Raphel Famotibe, reading and discussing three scenes from three key plays by seminal playwrights from the canon of Nigerian Theatre.

The first scene covered will be from Jero’s Metamorphosis by Wole Soyinka, and is a three-character interplay that demonstrates the investigation into colonialism, church corruption and religious viewpoints explored throughout the play. The second will be selected from This Is Our Chance by James Ene Henshaw, with the final scene TBA.

Participants can listen and engage in discussion around the plays, their themes and context. Selected scenes have been chosen for how they highlight or give a sense for the wider themes of each chosen play.

This event is organised by Raphel Famotibe, as part of the Associate Artists Programme.
